RESIDUAL HAUNTING
These are recorded images of past events that
replay over and over again in the same place. These
ghosts never vary their routine and do not seem to be
aware of the presence of others. These “recordings” are
thought to be imprints left over from strong emotion at
the time of death or created by magnetic fields that
literally tape-record an event. There are interesting
occurrences in residual haunting, particularly in
ancient cities such as London where buildings have been
built over other buildings for centuries.
Witnesses of residual haunting have many different
experiences; some see apparitions, some feel energies,
and some hear sounds. There have been some theories that
limestone deposits have some effect on residual
haunting, as they have been found near active sites and
limestone can hold electromagnetic charges.

Anniversary ghosts, as the title suggests, only
appear on an anniversary of some significance like deaths, birthdays
and other times that held some meaning for the deceased or are of
historical significance to them. Since this type of ghost only appears on the
anniversary of a special event, it seem likely this type of haunting
could be a residual haunting, reenacting a certain event in time on
that one day or night.
Such souls,
Whose sudden visitations daze the world,
Vanish like lightning, but they leave behind
A voice that in the distance far away
Wakens the slumbering ages.
